Upcoming Surgery

This is too much to post on Facebook, as I am going to go into detail here.

I met with the surgeon last week and he is wanting to do a video assisted thorasic surgery.  Basically, they go in with a small camera and tools without opening up my chest.   They believe that I have a 60-70% chance of having lung cancer and are treating it as such accordingly.  They are going to go in, and check my lymph nodes to determine if anything from the tumour has spread to there.   If so, then they will biospy it.  If my lymph nodes are okay, then they will remove my upper right lobe of my lungs.  If they need to biospy what they find on my nodes, they will refrain from the removal of the lobe.  While waiting for results, I will undergo 2 weeks of chemotherapy and/or radiation treatment.    After

An update on my lungs

Earlier this month, I went into OHSU for my scheduled Bronchoscopy to determine what is going on with the mass in my lung.  Overall, the procedure was fairly easy to do and after everything was said and done, the doctor after the procedure told me that they did not see any cancer in my lung.   After this, I figured the case was closed.   As part of the tests, they sent some samples taken out of my lungs as a culture to test if I had a fungal growth or other bacterial growth.  Both of those tests came back as negative.    Last week, I checked in with the doctor through the MyChart app they have to find out the results of the test.  A few days later, I got a response from him.

They can not definitively rule out cancer.  He told me that he brought the test results and everything

Doctors....I don't know what to say...

Around here, and with as many people here in the greater Portland metro area and suburbs, there are a lot of doctors, more than one can count easily.  With more specialists and doctors to choose from, I was surprised to find that for the number of Pulmonologists in the area are roughly 20 -25.   Now, get this - 3 clinics in my area - split between all three.   I had a not so good experience with the pulmonologist I saw in January of this year.  His overall bedside manner was not exactly great towards me, and I felt like my situation was being discounted.   Nonetheless, he ordered a CT scan of my lungs and then he called me.  Sounded better to me on the phone, had a better attitude but also dismismissive of what I had to say.  I have not returned....

Having battled life events and depression, I finally

Sick and tired

Sick and tired

Since Friday, I have been fighting a bad cold of sorts which has taken out my office and co-workers for days at a time.  At the very start of it, I had a raw throat and came home mid shift because talking on the phone for a living and sore throats just do not mix well.   I immediately hit it head on with copious amounts of Echniacea and Vitamin C to head off the impending attack on my body.  This usually shortens the length of an average cold I might have to be around 1 day or so out of 4 that it would normally last.  Today, marks day 5 of this stuff.   I keep dosing with the stuff and overall, I know it has helped quite a bit, and am hoping to be rid of this stuff soon.

I woke up this morning as I have for the last
